SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Dental Director, the Registered Dental Assistant renders dental care to patients. The Dental Assistant performs semi-technical dental and routine clerical work in a dental department located in a community health center. Work involves assisting the dentist during examinations and treatment, cleanings, sterilizing, and arranging instruments, and assisting dentist with x-rays. Works under supervision of the dentist and performs routine tasks according to standards, procedures, and instructions. Must be emotionally mature and able to function effectively under stress and the ability to organize and prioritize work. The Registered Dental Assistant must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care based on physical education, safety, and related criteria for the pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric population.
